Have these ready first
- An Android TV or Google TV television, Nvidia Shield, Chromecast with Google TV or Android box
- A Google account signed in on the device; a secondary account used only for the TV is perfectly fine
- Your MYTIVIFLIX server URL, username and password
- About eight minutes and a connection of 25 Mbps or better
Still without a login? The free 24-hour trial needs a WhatsApp number and no card, or you can compare the plans.
Installing and signing in
Sign in to Google Play
Open the Play Store from the home screen, or from the Apps tab on Google TV. Check that an account is signed in before searching, because the store happily lets you browse anonymously and then refuses at the install button. If you would rather not tie your main Google account to a shared living-room box, create a separate one just for the television. Nothing in this setup needs your personal email, contacts or photos.
Choose a player and read its listing
Search for TiViMate IPTV Player or IPTV Smarters Pro and confirm the developer name before installing. For a television, TiViMate is usually the better fit, because its programme grid was designed around a remote control rather than a touchscreen. Scroll down the listing to the Data safety section too. It summarises what the developer says the app collects and shares, and it takes about twenty seconds to read.
Answer permission prompts on first launch
Android asks at runtime before an app touches anything sensitive. A player needs network access, which is granted automatically, and may request storage if you intend to record. It has no reason to want your microphone or location, so decline those if they appear. You can review every decision later under Settings, Apps, the app name, then Permissions, and revoke anything that looks unnecessary.
Add your Xtream Codes login
In TiViMate choose Add playlist, then Xtream Codes login. In Smarters the equivalent is Login with Xtream Codes API. Either way you enter the server URL with http:// and the port, followed by your username and password. Give the playlist a neutral name such as Living room rather than anything that identifies you, since it shows on screen whenever someone opens the app.
Give channels and the guide time to arrive
The first sync downloads the full channel list and the programme data, which can take a couple of minutes on a large account. Leave the app open until the guide shows real programme titles instead of blank rows. Later refreshes are much quicker, because only the changes are fetched rather than the whole schedule.
Cut the list down to what you watch
Hide groups you will never open and pin the few you use every day. In TiViMate this lives under Settings, Playlists, then the playlist, then Manage groups. A shorter list is faster to move through with a remote, and putting adult or unsuitable groups behind a PIN is sensible on a family television where children can reach the remote.
Decide how the box reaches the internet
Most VPN providers publish an Android TV app in the Play Store. If you take the device to a holiday rental or connect it through public Wi-Fi, start the VPN before opening the player. At home it is optional and mainly useful where your ISP slows streaming in the evening. Check the VPN app has a proper TV layout, since phone-only builds are awkward to drive with a remote.
Known problems and what fixes them
The player does not show up in Play Store search
Some cheap boxes run a phone edition of Android that hides apps flagged for televisions. Look under Settings, About to see whether the device reports Android TV or Google TV. If it does not, install through Downloader as described in the Firestick guide, and switch off the installer permission once the app is in place.
The guide is still empty after logging in
Let the initial download finish, then run Update EPG from the player settings. Programme data comes bundled with the Xtream login, so normally there is nothing extra to paste. If one particular player insists on a separate guide address, support can send it to you in your WhatsApp chat.
Play Protect warns about an app
Take the warning seriously rather than tapping past it. A player installed from the Play Store should never trigger one; if it does, uninstall it and reinstall from the official listing. A warning attached to something sideloaded is a good reason to delete that file and ask support for a trusted link instead.
Streams stutter on a 4K television
Check the box is wired or sitting close to the router, and switch the player to hardware decoding. Budget boxes with 1 GB of RAM struggle with 4K feeds regardless of the connection, so try the FHD version of the same channel before concluding the stream is at fault.
Keeping your login to yourself
The server address, username and password you have just typed in are your whole account, so treat them the way you would a banking password. Leave them out of screenshots, family group chats and forum posts, and if you send support a photo of the screen, cover the password field first. If you suspect your details have been shared around, ask support on WhatsApp to change the password on your line. Where you want your internet provider or a public network kept out of your viewing, the player works over the common VPN apps; connect to a nearby server before opening it.

What people ask about Android TV and MYTIVIFLIX
Which Android box works best for IPTV?
The Nvidia Shield is still the quickest and handles 4K HDR comfortably, though it costs more than most subscriptions. Chromecast with Google TV 4K is the value choice. With unbranded boxes, look for at least 2 GB of RAM, an Ethernet port and a certified Google TV or Android TV build, which also means the device receives proper security updates.
Will it run on Chromecast with Google TV?
Yes. Google TV is Android TV with a different home screen, so TiViMate and IPTV Smarters Pro both install from the Play Store and take your login exactly as described above.
What should I remove before selling an Android box?
Delete the playlist or user profile inside the player, then uninstall it. Remove your Google account under Settings, Accounts, and finish with a factory reset, found under System or Device Preferences, then About, depending on the model. Removing the account before the reset also stops Factory Reset Protection from locking out the next owner.
Can a VPN and the player run at the same time?
Yes. The VPN runs as a background service and routes every app through it, the player included. Pick a server near you to keep delays low. A VPN is a privacy and anti-throttling tool; it does nothing to change what you are licensed to watch.
Is installing from the Play Store safer than sideloading?
Generally, yes. Play Store apps are checked by Google Play Protect, update automatically and show who published them. Sideloading is sometimes necessary on other platforms, but for IPTV on Android TV it rarely is, so there is little reason to take the extra step.
Can I reset the advertising ID on Google TV?
Yes. On Google TV, Settings, Privacy, Ads lets you reset or delete the advertising ID and opt out of personalised ads; older Android TV builds keep a similar option in their Google or privacy settings. None of it affects IPTV playback.
