Have these ready first
- Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD, or an iPhone or iPad running iOS 14 or later
- An Apple ID signed in to the App Store
- Your MYTIVIFLIX username, password and server URL
- Optional: a VPN app for iPhone or Apple TV, for networks you do not trust
Still without a login? The free 24-hour trial needs a WhatsApp number and no card, or you can compare the plans.
Installing and signing in
Open the App Store and read the listing first
On Apple TV the App Store sits on the home screen; on iPhone and iPad it is the familiar blue icon. Search for IPTV Smarters Player, iPlayTV or GSE Smart IPTV. Before pressing Get, scroll down to App Privacy on the listing. It shows the categories of data the developer says the app collects, and whether any of that is linked to your identity or used to track you across other companies.
Install the player that suits you
Smarters is free and does the job. iPlayTV and GSE charge once and offer a cleaner interface with nicer channel artwork. Ignore apps called TiviMato, Tivimax and other near-misses; they have nothing to do with TiViMate. Check the developer name under the app title matches the player you meant to install.
Answer the permission prompts deliberately
On iPhone and iPad a player may request Local Network access. It needs that only to discover AirPlay or casting targets in your home, so allow it if you intend to cast and decline if you do not; ordinary playback over the internet works either way. If the app asks to track your activity across other apps and websites, choosing Ask App Not to Track has no effect on streaming.
Enter your MYTIVIFLIX login
Open the app, choose the Xtream Codes option and enter the username, password and server URL including http:// and the port. On iPhone you can copy each value from your WhatsApp message and paste it in. On Apple TV, when a text field is active your iPhone offers a keyboard notification, which is far faster than the on-screen alphabet. Afterwards, copy something harmless so the password is not left sitting on the clipboard.
Keep a protected copy of the details
Rather than relying on a chat thread you might one day delete or screenshot for someone, keep the three values in a locked note in the Notes app or in your password manager. A locked note needs Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode to open. When you add another device later, the details are to hand without scrolling back through months of messages.
Use AirPlay if you would rather not install on the TV
From iPhone or iPad you can AirPlay a playing channel to an Apple TV or an AirPlay-compatible television on the same network. That keeps the login on one personal device, which some households prefer when the living-room TV is shared with guests, at the cost of tying up the phone for the evening.
Add a VPN for hotel and public Wi-Fi
iPhone and iPad have supported VPN apps for years, and since tvOS 17 VPN apps can run on Apple TV too. Install a reputable provider from the App Store, allow it to add a VPN configuration when the system asks, connect, and then open the player. At home this is optional. On public Wi-Fi it keeps your login and your viewing away from whoever else is on that network.
Known problems and what fixes them
The channel list loads but video will not start
Some streams use formats that Apple devices only decode with the right playback engine. In the player settings, switch the player type to VLC or FFmpeg and try again, or choose the HD copy of the channel before assuming the stream is offline.
AirPlay does not offer the television
Check both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network and that the player has Local Network access under Settings, Privacy and Security, Local Network. Some VPN configurations hide local devices while connected, so pause the VPN on the phone while casting and turn it back on afterwards.
Apple TV keeps rejecting the password
The tvOS keyboard makes capital letters easy to miss. Re-enter the password using the keyboard notification on your iPhone, and confirm the server URL ends with the port number and nothing after it, not even a slash.
Streams buffer only while the VPN is on
Choose a VPN server geographically close to you rather than one on another continent. If buffering continues, disconnect briefly to see whether the underlying connection, not the VPN, is the limit.
Playback is smooth on iPhone but choppy on Apple TV HD
The older Apple TV HD has less processing headroom than the 4K models. Choose FHD rather than 4K copies of channels, and connect it by Ethernet if the router is within reach.
Keeping your login to yourself
The server address, username and password you have just typed in are your whole account, so treat them the way you would a banking password. Leave them out of screenshots, family group chats and forum posts, and if you send support a photo of the screen, cover the password field first. If you suspect your details have been shared around, ask support on WhatsApp to change the password on your line. Where you want your internet provider or a public network kept out of your viewing, the player works over the common VPN apps; connect to a nearby server before opening it.

What people ask about Apple TV and iPhone and MYTIVIFLIX
Is IPTV Smarters available for Apple TV?
Yes, free on the tvOS App Store, with the Xtream login, guide, catch-up and on-demand sections all working. TiViMate is not available for Apple TV, despite the lookalike names that appear in search.
Can I watch MYTIVIFLIX on a Mac?
Yes, in three ways: the Smarters Player from the Mac App Store, your M3U link opened in VLC or IINA, or the browser player. The Windows and Mac guide walks through each option and the privacy habit that goes with it.
How do I remove my login from an iPhone or Apple TV before selling it?
Delete the player app first, which removes its stored profile. Sign out of your Apple ID so Activation Lock does not trouble the buyer. Then on iPhone use Settings, General, Transfer or Reset iPhone, Erase All Content and Settings; on Apple TV go to Settings, System, Reset.
Does running a VPN on Apple TV change what I am allowed to watch?
No. A VPN encrypts traffic between your device and the VPN server and can help when an ISP throttles video. It has no bearing on licensing or rights, so use it for privacy and connection quality, not as a workaround.
Why does an IPTV app want to find devices on my local network?
Usually to offer AirPlay or casting. iOS asks because local network access could also reveal what else is in your home, so declining is reasonable if you only ever watch on that device. You can change your answer under Settings, Privacy and Security, Local Network.
Can I limit the IPTV app for children?
Yes. On iPhone and iPad, Screen Time can set app limits and Content and Privacy Restrictions can block new installs altogether. On Apple TV, Settings, General, Restrictions offers similar controls behind a passcode.
