Installing and signing in
Open the LG Content Store
Press Home on the Magic Remote. On older webOS versions open LG Content Store; on recent models the same store is simply labelled Apps. Use the search field and sign in to your LG account if prompted. Optional newsletter and marketing boxes can be left unticked.
Install a player you can identify
IPTV Smarters Player is free and accepts an Xtream login. Smart IPTV and SS IPTV are lighter alternatives that load a playlist from a link. Check the publisher on the listing before installing. Anything borrowing the TiViMate name on webOS is not TiViMate, which has never been released for LG televisions.
Enter your login in Smarters
Choose Login with Xtream Codes API and fill in your username, password and the full server URL with http:// in front and the port at the end. The Magic Remote pointer makes typing far less tedious than stepping through the keyboard with arrow keys. Keep the profile name plain and impersonal.

Write down the MAC address Smart IPTV shows on screen, then visit siptv.app/mylist on your own phone or laptop, enter the MAC and paste the M3U link. Treat that link as you would a password, because your username and password are written into the address itself.
Restart the app and start browsing
Close the app completely and reopen it. The channel list and guide load from your account. Add favourites for the channels you return to most, so evenings are not spent scrolling past thousands of entries you will never open.
Turn off Live Plus and ad tracking
Open Settings, then All Settings. Depending on the model year, Live Plus sits under General, then Additional Settings, or under General, System, Additional Settings; switch it off. Many models also have an Advertising section with Limit Ad Tracking. Finally, find User Agreements, under Support or General, where you can withdraw consent for viewing information and interest-based advertising. None of this touches IPTV playback.
Use a router-level VPN if you want one
webOS has no system VPN client and mainstream VPN apps are generally absent from the LG store. If you want the television covered, configure the VPN on your router instead. Most people will not need it at home; it matters on networks you do not control, or where your provider throttles streaming in the evening.
Known problems and what fixes them
There is sound but the picture stays black
That points to a decoding mismatch rather than a dead channel. Switch the player to native or hardware decoding in its settings, or choose the lower-bitrate copy of the channel, which most sports channels provide alongside the main feed.
Login is accepted but the channel list is empty
Allow a minute for the first download, then exit and reopen. If the list is still blank, check the server URL for a missing port. A plan that has passed its end date also produces an empty list, so confirm your renewal date in your WhatsApp chat.
The store says the app is not compatible
Older webOS versions lose access to newer app builds. Check for a firmware update under Support or About This TV. If the set is simply too old, a Firestick or Android box on a spare HDMI port is the practical fix and takes ten minutes.
Smart IPTV lost the playlist after a firmware update
Large webOS updates occasionally reinstall apps, which clears whatever Smart IPTV had stored. Open the app to confirm the MAC address shown is the one you used before, then send the M3U link again at siptv.app/mylist from your own device and restart the app on the television.
Playback stutters in the evening but is fine in the morning
That pattern usually means congestion, either on your home Wi-Fi or further along at your internet provider. Try an Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the back of the TV first, which takes Wi-Fi out of the picture. If the evening slowdown continues on a cable, your provider may be shaping video traffic, and a VPN configured on the router is a straightforward way to test that theory.
The Magic Remote keyboard enters the wrong characters
The pointer can register a neighbouring key if the remote moves as you click. Slow down on the server URL and password, or switch to the arrow keys for those two fields. A USB keyboard plugged into the television avoids the problem entirely.
Keeping your login to yourself
The server address, username and password you have just typed in are your whole account, so treat them the way you would a banking password. Leave them out of screenshots, family group chats and forum posts, and if you send support a photo of the screen, cover the password field first. If you suspect your details have been shared around, ask support on WhatsApp to change the password on your line. Where you want your internet provider or a public network kept out of your viewing, the player works over the common VPN apps; connect to a nearby server before opening it.

How do I clear my account before passing on an LG TV?
Remove the profile inside the player and uninstall it, sign out of your LG account, then choose Reset to Initial Settings from the General or System menu. If the TV left your control with the login still on it, message support and we will issue a new password.
Does an LG TV need a separate box for IPTV?
Not from 2016 onwards. The built-in store covers it. A box is worth adding only on older sets that no longer receive app updates, or if you want TiViMate, which is Android only.
Do I have to accept every LG user agreement?
Only the core terms are needed for the television and its app store to work. The agreements covering viewing information, voice recognition and interest-based advertising are optional, and declining them leaves apps, IPTV players included, fully usable. Some recommendation features stop working, which most people never notice. You can change your answers later from the User Agreements screen.
Can I lock the IPTV app on an LG TV?
Many webOS models include Application Locks under Settings, General, Safety. Once set, the chosen app asks for the TV PIN before it opens, which keeps your account away from children and guests without signing out.
