Installing and signing in
Install TiViMate
On Android TV and Google TV it is in the Play Store as TiViMate IPTV Player. On a Firestick it has to be sideloaded with Downloader; follow the Firestick guide and switch the unknown-apps permission off again once TiViMate is installed. There is no version for Apple, Samsung or LG hardware, so use IPTV Smarters on those.
Add a playlist using Xtream Codes
Open the app and select Add playlist. Pick Xtream Codes login from the options, fill in the server address along with the username and password we sent on WhatsApp, and continue with Next. TiViMate does not need the M3U link, and using Xtream means your password is not sitting inside a long URL in the app settings.
Name the playlist and choose groups
Give the playlist a neutral name. TiViMate then asks which channel groups to include. This can be changed later under Settings, Playlists, so include what you think you will watch and trim the rest afterwards rather than agonising over every category now.
Set the guide to refresh itself
In Settings, TV guide, choose an update interval of 12 hours. Programme data is delivered through that same Xtream login, meaning you never have to hunt down an extra EPG URL. If programme titles look stale later, Update EPG in the same menu forces a fresh download.
Protect groups with a PIN
TiViMate can hide chosen groups behind a PIN from its settings; depending on your version this may be one of the Premium features. On a shared television it keeps certain categories out of casual browsing without deleting them, and without you needing to supervise every evening of channel surfing.
Optional: activate Premium from your phone
Premium is purchased in the separate TiViMate Companion app, not inside TiViMate on the TV. Create an account in Companion, buy there, then sign in to that account on the television. Pricing sits near $9.99 annually, a lifetime option costs somewhere in the mid-thirties, and a week of free trial comes before either. Keeping payment on your phone means no card details pass through the TV.
Plan where recordings live
Recordings are saved to internal storage or a USB drive attached to the box, and anyone who plugs that drive into another device can play them. On a shared box, delete recordings you have finished with, and take the drive with you if the device is leaving the house or going back to a rental.
Tidy the channel order and favourites
Long-press a channel in the list to add it to Favourites, which TiViMate shows as its own group at the top. The same menu lets you hide or move individual channels. A favourites group of a few dozen channels is the quickest way to make a large line-up feel manageable, and it means guests browsing your television see your short list rather than the entire catalogue.
Known problems and what fixes them
TiViMate cannot load the playlist
Look at the server address first, because it needs the port on the end. Confirm the plan has not lapsed, then key in the password manually instead of pasting, as chat apps sometimes slip an invisible space into copied text.
The guide says no information
Force a refresh under Settings, TV guide, Update EPG, and then restart the app. The first load across a large channel list simply takes longer than later ones.
Premium does not show as active on the TV
Sign out of the TiViMate account on the television and back in, using exactly the same account you created in Companion. Make sure both the phone and the TV are online while you do it.
A Firestick refuses to install a TiViMate update
A sideloaded copy needs the install permission for Downloader again whenever you update. Enable it, install the new version, then switch it back off.
Recordings fail or stop part way through
Recording needs Premium and enough free space. Check where recordings are saved in the recording settings, and use a USB drive if internal storage is small. Bear in mind that a recording streams just like live viewing, so it uses one of your connections and can clash with another screen watching at the same moment.
Catch-up is missing on a channel
Catch-up only exists on channels where an archive is enabled, and TiViMate marks those in the guide. Move back in the grid on one of those channels, choose a past programme and press play.
Keeping your login to yourself
The server address, username and password you have just typed in are your whole account, so treat them the way you would a banking password. Leave them out of screenshots, family group chats and forum posts, and if you send support a photo of the screen, cover the password field first. If you suspect your details have been shared around, ask support on WhatsApp to change the password on your line. Where you want your internet provider or a public network kept out of your viewing, the player works over the common VPN apps; connect to a nearby server before opening it.
