Installing and signing in
Get the app from the right place
Android phones, tablets and Android TV: Google Play. Samsung and LG televisions: their own stores, where it is listed as IPTV Smarters. iPhone, iPad and Apple TV: the App Store, as IPTV Smarters Player. Windows and Mac: the installer on the official IPTV Smarters website. Firestick is the exception and needs Downloader; the Firestick guide explains that, including switching the install permission back off once you are done.
Check what the app asks permission for
On Android a player needs network access and possibly storage for downloads or recordings. It has no business with your contacts, location, camera or microphone, and you can deny those if they appear. On Apple devices, Local Network access is only for casting to other screens. You can review and revoke permissions at any time in the device settings under Apps.
Choose Login with Xtream Codes API
Agree to the terms that appear at first launch, then go for the Xtream Codes option instead of the M3U playlist route. Xtream fetches the guide, catch-up and on-demand library by itself. It also keeps your credentials in three separate fields, instead of one long address that is all too easy to paste into the wrong window or message by accident.
Enter your details carefully
Type any profile name, ideally something that does not identify you. Enter the username and password exactly as issued, capitals included, then the server URL with http:// at the start and the port at the end. Tap Add User. If the app offers several saved users, keep only the ones you actually use on that device.
Let the guide finish loading
The app now downloads channels, films, series and programme data. The guide can take a few minutes to populate properly, so give it time before deciding something is missing. In Settings, look for the EPG options and enable the guide on live TV if you want programme information visible while a channel plays.
Set your playback preferences
Under Settings, Player settings, select the built-in player and turn on hardware decoding, which suits most devices. If one channel stutters while everything else behaves, change decoding for that channel from the menu inside the player, rather than altering the global setting and upsetting every other channel.
Lock it down on shared devices
Smarters includes a parental control section where you set a password and hide chosen categories. Use it on family televisions and tablets. On a device that several adults share, sign out or delete your user from the list when you are finished, rather than leaving your account open for whoever picks the remote up next.
Keep the app up to date
Store installs update themselves. Desktop and Firestick copies do not, so check for a new version every few months from the same official source you used the first time. Updates fix playback bugs and stop older builds misbehaving on newer operating systems.
Known problems and what fixes them
The app says your account is expired
That means the subscription reached its end date, not that anything is wrong with the app. Renew in your WhatsApp chat and the existing credentials come back to life shortly afterwards, with settings and favourites intact and no reinstall required.
The channel list is empty after login
Refresh the list, then sign out and back in. If it is still bare, the server URL is probably wrong somewhere, and the port number is the usual suspect.
The app keeps closing on a Firestick
Clear its cache under Settings, Applications, Manage installed applications, then reopen it. If the crashes continue, uninstall and put a current build on from a trusted link; an outdated APK on newer Fire OS is a common cause.
Login works at home but fails on hotel Wi-Fi
Some public networks block uncommon ports, including the one in your server URL. Connect a VPN first, which carries your traffic over a port the network allows, and try again. It also keeps your login out of view on a network full of strangers.
A store listing looks different from last time
Developers occasionally rename listings or change icons. Confirm the publisher before installing, and be wary of paid apps with Smarters in the name from developers you do not recognise.
The guide shows the wrong programme times
Smarters displays times based on the device clock, so check the time zone on the device first. The EPG settings in some versions also include a time shift option for fine adjustment if the guide is still an hour out.
Keeping your login to yourself
The server address, username and password you have just typed in are your whole account, so treat them the way you would a banking password. Leave them out of screenshots, family group chats and forum posts, and if you send support a photo of the screen, cover the password field first. If you suspect your details have been shared around, ask support on WhatsApp to change the password on your line. Where you want your internet provider or a public network kept out of your viewing, the player works over the common VPN apps; connect to a nearby server before opening it.

What people ask about IPTV Smarters Pro and MYTIVIFLIX
Is IPTV Smarters Pro free?
The player is free on every platform. Out of the box it is empty: channels only show up once a subscription has been added as an Xtream login. We never charge anything inside the app.
What is an IPTV Smarters Pro subscription?
No product by that exact name exists. Anyone typing that into a search engine is really looking for a service that plays inside the app, and that is the role MYTIVIFLIX fills: an Xtream Codes account with live channels and on-demand content, entered once per device on every screen where Smarters is installed.
Smarters Pro or TiViMate: which should I use?
Smarters is free, simpler and available almost everywhere. TiViMate has a better guide plus recording and multi-view for roughly $10 a year, on Android only. If you watch a lot of live sport, TiViMate earns its fee; otherwise Smarters covers the basics well.
Are modified Smarters APKs dangerous?
They can be. An altered player sees every credential you type and every stream you open, and could do more than that. There is no upside to an unofficial build when the real app is free, so remove any copy of uncertain origin and reinstall from the official source.
Can I remove my profile without uninstalling Smarters?
Yes. The opening screen lists saved users, each with an option to delete it. Do this on any device you are leaving behind; uninstalling afterwards clears whatever cached data remains.
Does Smarters work with a VPN?
Yes, on every platform where a VPN app can run. Connect the VPN first, then open Smarters. Samsung and LG televisions have no VPN apps, so for those, set the VPN up on your router.
